Electric Shock Track for Birds

Electric shock track systems provide a humane and effective way to protect your property from magpies, starlings, gulls, pigeons, sparrows, and even peacocks. The best thing with these systems is that they work with any architectural design and are used to protect building structures such as ledges, roof ridges, parapets, pergolas, and beams.

Electric shock bird repelling systems are a great weapon in deterring birds from your building. They are especially effective in urban, rural, and farm buildings. You can also find these systems being used in apartments, industrial and commercial buildings, as well as heritage buildings.

When installed onto ledges, arches, roof ridge and other parts of the property, they ensure that birds do not settle any of them. Birds also seem to sense the presence of an electrical current and warn them off from the areas fitted with the tape.

When choosing the best electric shock track for your property, you will be bombarded with tons of solutions from different suppliers each touting to be the best option for you. It is probably a good idea to seek recommendations from a reputable solution provider in the industry to identify the best-electrified tape system to go for. Hot Wire is a renowned alternative to the Bird Spikes when you need low visibility.

Keep in mind that Hot Wire and Bird-Shock are different concepts that use a 6mm high-profile electric tap. Other products you are likely to come across with uses raised electrified wires above the surface of the building. According to reviews on most of the raised wire methods, each has its own set of safety concerns as well as at risk of accidental damage when running maintenance in these areas.

Electric shock systems work based on the electric fence technology to control the bird in the same way that the electronic fence technology is used to restrict the movement of livestock without investing in a permanent fence. The shock bird deterrent systems designed to deal with pigeons and gulls work by providing a low voltage electric shock system to the feet of the birds once they land on the electric track. The conventional shock system features two parallel wires housed in the track.

One wire transmits current from the terminal for the power box while the second is earthed and connected to the corresponding earth terminal of the power box. For the shock system to work as intended, the bird must make contact with either or both feet with the wires. According to studies, when these tracks are installed on the ledge to discourage birds from perching, the active wire must be installed close enough to the leading edge of the ledge.

Flexible Electric Shock Track

The primary reason why electric shock systems fail to work as intended is due to inadequate power supply to the track. An average power box has an output of up to 9000 volts. However, this voltage can fall below 4500 volts that some birds can comfortably withstand. This is the main reason why such and most power boxes come equipped with a standard 110-volt cable to carry the current. Keep in mind that inevitable leaks will ultimately occur from the active wire to the earth wire thus reducing the effectiveness of the track. This problem can be solved by using insulated cables with a resistance not below 9KV.

Another common reason why failure may occur is due to leakage of the current from poor connection when joining different pieces of the track together. The older and basic systems usually result in power loss due to the use of connectors that allow the track to turn corners. The presence of debris on the tracks is another factor; you are highly discouraged against installing the tracks close to or underneath trees where leaves and branches are likely to drop on the track. Debris on the tracks means that the feet of the perched bird will not make direct contact with the wires.

White Electric Shock Track

The primary advantage of using the electric shock systems is that they are the best low profile bird deterrent method and consequently more aesthetically appealing than any other technique. A standard Electric Shock system stands at around 0.25 inches and 0.5 inches high and is available in different colors to perfectly blend with the surface that is too protected. These systems are powered by direct current (DC) or mains current (AC). You can also go for the solar powered or both power sources.

Another reason why you should go for the Electric Shock Systems is that they can work on any areas of your building. The versatility of these systems in terms of applications coupled with the recent advancements in these systems, they are significantly easier to install. Installing earlier versions was a time-consuming endeavor. Their design demanded extensive fixings to hold them in place. These systems were further compromised by the lack of drainage and resulted in a build-up of water.

Regardless of these shortcomings, these systems did a decent job in deterring birds from buildings. If netting and spikes do not appeal to you, then these electric shock systems are the best alternative. This is a budget-friendly option that is more effective than most bird deterrent techniques known to man. You do not need an expert to install these systems. Make them your next DIY project and keep your property safe from bird infestation.
